Women are underrepresented in the radiology workforce and radiology leadership positions [1,2]. Although women make up 48% of medical students, only 27% of radiology residents are women, and only 13% of radiology leaders are women [3]. Recruitment, retention, and the success of women in radiology constitute important objectives for radiology departments because promotion of gender diversity contributes to their strength and quality of patient care [4,5]. In combination with strong female residency leadership, the creation of a departmentally sponsored Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) Women in Radiology (WIR) organization in 2015 has sustained and bolstered the recruitment of residency classes with an average proportion of greater than 40% women.
